I am a skilled communicator with experience as a writer, project manager, photographer and video shooter and editor. I have written millions of dollars of successful grant proposals, run a national awards program for the MacArthur Foundation and provided communications support to one of Chicago’s most successful community development efforts.
I came to Chicago to work as a community organizer after attending a leadership training with a young and impressive Barack Obama. After nearly a decade of organizing, I left to work in nonprofit communications, first for a small firm and then on my own. Over the past twenty years I have worked for some of the largest organizations in Chicago, including more than 17 years working on projects for the MacArthur Foundation.
I have developed my skills as a professional photographer shooting not-for-profit annual reports, portraits and events. I am also an experienced music photographer having worked the past two years as an official photographer for the punk rock music festival Riot Fest. My photography career has broadened to include video production and editing.
